We realized that as the kids got older we knew less of their friends so we decided to host a cookie decorating party. It was so much fun that we had another one. The prep starts a week before the party. Every night we make two batches of sugar cookies and store them in the fridge. I scour the stores for all sorts of sprinkles and decorating supplies. I think that we had 22 different varieties this year. Then we stock up on powdered sugar! You need a ton of powdered sugar to make all the frosting. This year we made red, green, yellow, purple, blue, orange, and a weird greenish brown. We start rolling out the cookies to cut them about two hours before the party. I think we made about 500 cookies!
The kids are so creative. My favorite are the swirly ones and the ones with faces. The only rule is that you take home the ones that you decorate. The only question - can you have too much sugar? I'll let you decide, but I'm already looking forward to next year's party.
